Race to read!

Race to Read!

Students build fluency by racing to read. The teacher pushes the car down the track as the student reads. The goal is to be the first one done. Students love picking their race vehicle and racing the teacher.

I have created reading segments at GRL reading levels A-L and fry word reading segments. I also created one segment which focuses on letter sound practice for my beginning readers.

Here I am pushing the car down the track as my student reads the sentence.

Taste Lab

The 5 Senses  Today was a great day for science! I put my class to work as taste testers. We sampled pickle juice, lime juice, candy, honey, potato chips and pretzels.  I was surprised to see many students enjoying the pickle juice. The faces the students made after sampling the lime juice was just precious and hilarious :) We tasted foods and drinks that were sweet, sour and salty The workstation consisted of food and drink samples and a data collecting sheet
